Baptism Service in the Fall

This worship service will be focused on water baptism. Baptism is a visual testimony of one’s belief in the death, burial, and resurrection of Christ. It is done as an act of obedience to the Lord. If you have not been baptized we would suggest that you give prayerful consideration to taking the next step. Baptism requires taking a two session course which will prepare you for this exciting event.

The next baptism service will be on November 9. Please use the “Welcome Form” to indicate your interest, or talk to one of the Elders or Pastor Mark.

Mostly we ask that You will give us Love:
- for You
- for Your word

Heavenly Father help us to love as You have loved us.
Amen

The day before he wrote his famous poem, one of McCrae’s closest friends was killed in the fighting and buried in a makeshift grave with a simple wooden cross. Wild poppies were already beginning to bloom between the crosses marking the many graves. Unable to help his friend or any of the others who had died, John McCrae gave them a voice through his poem. It was the second last poem he was to write.

  • “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day — and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing.”  2 Tim. 4:7,8

Men’s Breakfast at BPC!

  • As usual on the first Saturday of the month, we have our men’s breakfast!
  • Join us at 08.30am for amazing food (eggs and bacon/sausages), coffee, and fellowship.
  • Our guest speaker is Adib, an Afghan Christian brother who recently arrived in Canada as a refugee, and is now serving the Afghan Church in Canada!
    • Adib is from Mazār-i-Sharīf, the fourth-largest city in Afghanistan. He became a believer in Jesus in 2005 and joined the underground church there. He was found out in 2008 and had to flee to India, where he joined the Afghan Church of New Delhi
    • He went on to do studies in theology and seminary and led the Afghan Church together with Obed and Ahmad. However, Afghan Muslims in India continue to target Afghan Christians. These brothers and their families faced persecution, violence, and serious threats to their lives. First Obed and Tarana, then Ahmad and his family were granted refugee status in Canada, leaving Adib and his family behind.
    • Adib and his family applied for and received refugee status with the UNCHR, and the Afghan Church in Canada sponsored Adib’s family to come as refugees. But even after the Canadian government approved it, local officials in India, looking for bribes, repeatedly denied their clearance. Finally, after months of denials, the family was approved to leave the country, and have now safely arrived to start their new life in Canada, and continue their work of establishing Afghans in Christ.
  • Come prepared to stay one extra hour afterwards, to help out with some maintenance jobs around the church!
  • If you have safety boots/shoes, bring them!
  • Looking forward to seeing you there!

BPC Family discussion night regarding the future

  • One of the things that we did not have this past Sunday at AGM was time. Time to talk, time to listen, time to let our questions be heard, with love and with passion.
  • I know that one of the most important things moving forward is to make sure we, as leadership, get to listen to the church, and offer ample time for questions and comments.
  • With this in mind, I invite you all to join me in a time of discussions, questions, and comments regarding our current situation!
  • When: next Saturday, November 5,  at 6pm, at the church. Dinner provided! (Chilli and stuff)
  • If you want, you can even email questions in advance, so we can discuss them at the meeting.
  • If you want to be there, but you cannot join us, we can set up a zoom connection. No chilli for zoom though…

Good morning everyone!

It feels really good to be back, refreshed and energized after three weeks in Romania with family and friends, and of course great Romanian food!We got to celebrate our 25th anniversary with our family, alongside a few birthdays as well. Sermon series for the fall

  • The intro to the study will be on September 11

Adi and Ana will soon go on vacation for three weeks

  • Ana and I will fly out to Romania in exactly one week, and we’ll have about three weeks to spend with family and friends in Romania, and also celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary while we are over there.
  • That also means that for the next few weeks there will be no more emails from me. Pastor Nick will probably send out some church emails while I am gone.
  • Pray for us, as air travel has not been at its best the last few months. Pearson Airport is ranked No.1 on the “worst airports in the world” list… But God is good, and I trust Him that He will watch over our flights and our luggage too!

Missionary updates:

  • We have a few updates from some of the missionaries we support:
    • Kevin Jolly, serving with the Navigators in Nova Scotia (See attached PDF)
    • Neil Macris, serving in Greece:

Please pray for this young Gypsy brother in Christ, “B”, who is my most promising, and so far most faithful attendant, from our fellowship in the Gypsy camp.

I have discipled “B” for five years now and I want to build a second room for him (here in the picture) behind the brick room already built so he can have a two room house. The agreement we have is that, as I am able, I will slowly build this room with a bathroom, and  he will allow us to use it for “children’s church” when we have our weekly meeting in the camp – simultaneously, with the adult meeting that will be taking place in the first meeting room I have already built for his Aunt who was the first person I led to the Lord from the Gypsy camp, over 10 years ago in the little parking lot outside my local supermarket.

Father’s Day
This Sunday, June 19th, we celebrate Father’s Day!

  • What a great time to recognize the important role of fathers in the family and society!
  • A great time to remember and reminisce about our own dads, especially when they are no longer with us…
  • A time of reflection also, and encouragement for us all, dads young and not so young!
  • I pray and hope that this Sunday will be sweet and special, filled with laughter and barbecue smoke, and maybe a couple of tears here and there.
  • May the Lord bless you and keep you, dads!
  • Below are some points from one of my devotionals for Father’s Day:
  • Great dads learn from the Father in Heaven!
  • Feed your heart and soul every day with His word
  • Great dads learn from others!
  • Surround yourself with good role models and good mentors. Don’t go at it alone!
  • Great dads are role models themselves!
  • Remember that your kids are watching you, and learn from your example. Be a good one!
  • Great dads are also spiritual fathers!
  • Make the Gospel and God’s grace your life’s message, whether it is with words or with actions.
  • Great dads know that it is never too late  to do the right thing!
  • We all made mistakes. And a lot of… Do not let your past define your present and your future!
  • Rest in God’s grace – given to all of us who DON’T deserve it – then pick up your cross and do the right thing. Every day.

  • Pray for the team as they work and pray together! Pray for the kids that are on the list, that all will come with open hearts, ready to hear the Good News!
  • Pray also for the families of all the kids – may the Lord open doors for us to preach the Gospel to them also
  • Ephesians 6:19,20: “Keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints, and also for me, that words may be given to me in opening my mouth boldly to proclaim the mystery of the gospel”

  • By God’s grace, we hope to get to spend one weekend with our church in Moldova as well, as we miss fellowshipping with our church family there.

Prayer for Makadi family

  • With a sad heart I need to inform you that young Moses (7yrs old), adopted by the Makadi family but still in Nigeria, died last Sunday.
  • Please pray for Peter, Rahila, Dorea, and Peter Jr., as they have to deal with the grief and sorrow from afar, as traveling to Nigeria is not an option for them at this time.
  • May the peace of Christ, that surpasses all understanding, guard their minds and hearts in Christ Jesus!

Summer Camp (DOXA Day Camp) Update

  • We are happy to inform you that we have already filled up all the spots for the summer camp! Last year we had difficulties getting kids to register, this year we will have to have a waiting list… Praise the Lord!
  • Keep praying for pastor Nick and the team of interns and volunteers – may the Lord use them to make Himself known to many this summer!
  • This past weekend we had over 210 kids with us at Muskoka Woods (300 people total, youth leaders and kids together) and we had a great time both in the fun and also in the Word!
  • Please pray that the seeds planted this weekend will be watered in the local churches,  and that a great harvest for the Kingdom will follow!
  • Here are a couple of images from this weekend:

Mother’s Day

  • I hope most of us don’t need this reminder, but here it is: This Sunday is Mother’s  Day!
  • I hope this will be a great day of celebration, great memories and laughter, and amazing food with friends and family!
  • Happy Mother’s day from BPC!

Strive 2022 This Weekend

  • Please pray for Adi and Nick, as they are heading up to Muskoka Woods, with a couple of our youth, for the annual AGC Youth retreat – Strive 2022!
  • The last Strive Retreat was in March 2020, right before the pandemic…
  • We are going to have two very full days of fun, games, worship, and Gospel preaching
  • Pray for both youth and youth leaders – to be touched by God’s Spirit, challenged and encouraged by Word and worship.

BPC Town Hall meeting

  • Finally we have scheduled our town hall meeting! We would like to discuss with you about how the future will look like for our church in the post-Covid era.
  • We like to hear from you about what the Lord has put on your hearts, as well as sharing with you our thoughts and dreams regarding our church in the next stage(s) of life and ministry.
  • The date is April 24, 2022, right after the (shortened) morning service. The format will be hybrid, so we can connect with all those that currently participate in our programs, whether in person or on zoom.
  • Looking forward to seeing you there!

Church Sound-proofing Upgrade

In case you did not come in person last weekend, we finished our sound-proofing project! Again, big thank you to the men’s group from Logos Romanian Church!
